Read aloud.
Every word lights up.
Read Tracker listens while you read and highlights each word the moment you say it, so you never lose your place. Stuck on a word? Tap it and hear it. Want to hear it first? It reads to you. Open an e-book, a PDF, a Word file, or just photograph a page.
Coming soon to Google Play $1.99, one timeReading aloud is how we learn to read, how we practice a new language, and how many people with dyslexia keep their focus. The text is rarely the problem; keeping your place in it is, and so is that one word you cannot work out. Read Tracker follows your voice like a finger under the line, and gives you the hard word the moment you need it.
What it does
Tap the microphone and read. The word you are on lights up and grows a little; words you have read turn gray, and a dotted line marks any you skipped.
Tap a word to hear it. Pause on one for a few seconds and a "Hear it" button appears right above it.
Press and hold any word, and reading carries on from there. Skip a page, go back a paragraph.
The app reads the text aloud and lights up each word as it goes, at the speed you choose.
One sentence at a time: the app reads it, you say it back, and it tells you how it went.
Reading in a language you are learning? Tap a word for its translation and the whole sentence's, on the phone.
Lexend, OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible fonts, wider spacing, a line focus that dims the rest, and soft page colors.
After each reading: your time, words per minute compared with last time, and the words worth practicing.
E-books, PDF, Word, text files and pasted text. For a printed book, photograph the pages and read straight from them.
Help at the exact moment you need it
Comfortable for every reader
The built-in speech engines recognize your reading on the phone itself, with no internet and nothing sent anywhere. English is included; the others download free in Settings:
Other languages, such as Hebrew and Arabic, use your phone's own speech recognition. The app itself is in English, German, French, Spanish and Hebrew.
Questions
Does it work without internet?
Yes, with a built-in speech engine: reading, highlighting, hearing words, reading aloud, the report and the dyslexia-friendly mode all work offline. The internet is needed only to download an engine or a translation dictionary the first time.
Is my voice recorded?
No. The app listens only while the microphone button is on, and never saves or sends audio. With a built-in engine, recognition happens entirely on the phone. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
Can it open my Kindle books?
Books bought on Kindle, and most books bought from other e-book stores, are locked so that only the store's own app can open them, and no other app may unlock them. Read Tracker opens unlocked EPUB books, which includes tens of thousands of free classics, and for a book on paper you can simply photograph the pages.
Does it help with dyslexia?
Many readers with dyslexia find it easier to keep their place with the highlight, the line focus, the spacing and the fonts made for them. Read Tracker is a reading aid, not a treatment: it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is no substitute for a teacher or a specialist.
Who is it for?
Anyone who reads aloud: new readers building confidence, people with dyslexia, language learners practicing pronunciation, and anyone preparing a text to read out. It is meant for ages 13 and up; parents and teachers can use it together with younger readers.
Is it a subscription?
No. Pay once and it is yours, with every language engine included. No ads, no account, no tracking.
I have two Android phones. Do I pay twice?
No. Google Play ties the purchase to your Google account, so it installs on every Android phone and tablet signed in to that account.
