HearthWire TV runs entirely on your own television and home network. It does not collect, transmit to us, or share any of your data. There are no accounts, no servers, no cloud, no telemetry, and no analytics. We never see what you watch, your messages, your files, or your settings.
HearthWire TV plays films, series and photos that live on your own computers, over your local network only: the private network your home router creates for the devices inside your house. Your films and messages travel the short way, from your computer straight to your television, and stay inside your home the entire time. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and there is no outside server involved in moving your data.
Everything HearthWire TV saves stays on the television itself, in the app's own private storage:
We never receive any of these. Uninstalling the app removes them.
When you press play, the film streams encrypted from your computer to your television and is handed to a video player app on the same television (VLC, Kodi, or another player you choose) through a connection that never leaves the device. Those players are separate apps by other developers, and what happens inside them is governed by their own policies. The app itself records nothing about what you watch.
On a film's page you can choose to look the film up: on YouTube, on Google (when your television has a browser), or on your phone by scanning a QR code. If you press one of these, the film's title becomes a web search that opens in that separate app or on your phone. This happens only when you press the button, nothing is sent in the background, and we are not part of that request. If you never press them, the app touches the internet not at all.
Traffic between your computers and the television is encrypted with a key derived from your home network's shared secret (AES-GCM). A television can only join your network after a person approves it on a computer that is already a member, by confirming a number shown on both screens. The app requests no microphone and no camera.
HearthWire TV is bought once through Google Play. The purchase is handled entirely by Google, under Google's own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your name, your payment details, or any other personal information from it.
Install HearthWire TV only from Google Play. Because the app connects to the computers in your home, a tampered copy from an unofficial site is especially dangerous: pirated copies of this kind of app often hide malware or a backdoor that can expose your home network to an outsider. A copy obtained anywhere else is not covered by this Privacy Policy, and we cannot vouch for what it does.
All processing happens on your own devices and home network, under your control, and we act as neither a controller nor a processor of any personal data on your behalf, because no personal data ever reaches us from the app. As we hold no data about you, requests to access, correct, port, restrict, object to, or erase data held by us have nothing to act on; you can exercise full control by clearing the app's storage on the television or uninstalling it.
We do not collect, sell, or share personal information, and we have no personal information to disclose. "Sell" and "share" are used here as defined by California law. There is nothing to opt out of because no data is collected.
HearthWire TV does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children, and is not directed at children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
