HearthPage

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 16, 2026

HearthPage is a local-first PDF app. In plain words: your documents, signatures and certificate stay on your device. We do not have a server that receives them, there are no accounts, and we do not sell or share your data.

Who we are

HearthPage is published by Pro Numerology ("we", "us", "our"), an independent software developer. This policy explains how the app handles information. Because the app processes your documents only on your own device and sends us no personal data, we act as neither a controller nor a processor of the personal data you handle inside the app; you stay in control of it at all times. Questions about this policy? Contact us at support@hearth-software.com.

The short version

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, transmit to us, store on our servers, or sell:

Information stored on your device (and only there)

The app stores the following locally on your computer, under your Windows user profile, and it stays there unless you move or delete it:

You can delete any of this at any time using File Explorer or Windows' app-data controls. Uninstalling the app and clearing its data removes it.

Data retention

We do not retain any of your documents or personal data, because we never receive them. The files described above live only on your device and stay there, under your control, until you move or delete them. Deleting them, or uninstalling the app and clearing its data, removes them completely. Any support email you send us is kept only for as long as needed to help you, and we delete it on request.

Your certificate and signatures

If you choose to sign PDFs with a digital certificate, you select a certificate that already lives in your Windows certificate store (including smart cards and USB tokens) or you load a PFX file that you provide. The private key stays on your device and is used only there, by Windows, to sign your document. HearthPage does not copy your key to us, does not store your PFX password, and does not transmit any of this anywhere. When you sign from your phone, only an image of your handwritten signature travels from the phone to your own PC over your local network, and you approve it on the PC before it is applied.

Limited network activity

HearthPage is designed to work offline. The only network activity is the following, none of which sends us your documents or personal data:

No advertising, analytics, or tracking

The app contains no third-party advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. The "More from Hearth" panel promotes only our own apps and does not profile you.

Third-party components

The app includes open-source components that run locally on your device and do not transmit data, including PDF handling (PDFsharp), QR-code generation (QRCoder) and text recognition (Tesseract OCR and its language data). The app is distributed through the Microsoft Store, operated by Microsoft under its own terms and privacy policy, which also handles your purchase.

Payment

HearthPage is a paid, one-time purchase made through the Microsoft Store. Your payment is processed by Microsoft, not by us. We do not receive or store your payment-card details; we may receive from Microsoft only aggregate, non-identifying sales information. Microsoft's handling of your purchase is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

If you contact us

If you choose to email us (for support, feedback, or a bug report), we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use them only to respond to you and to fix the issue, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not share them with anyone. You may ask us to delete the correspondence at any time.

Your privacy rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar laws)

The app is designed for data minimization: it processes your documents only locally on your device, under your control, and your documents and personal data never reach us from the app. Because we hold no personal data about you, we act as neither a controller nor a processor of the data you handle in the app.

Where laws such as the EU GDPR or the UK GDPR apply, you have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, object to, and erase personal data held about you, and to withdraw consent. As we hold no such data, there is nothing for us to retrieve, change, or delete on your behalf; you exercise full control by editing or deleting the local files described above. You may still contact us at support@hearth-software.com with any question, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

International users

HearthPage works the same way everywhere, and it does not transfer your documents across borders because it does not transmit them at all. Wherever you are, your documents stay on your own device.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not collect, sell, or share personal information, and we have no personal information to disclose. "Sell" and "share" are used here as defined by California law. There is nothing to opt out of because no data is collected.

Children's privacy

The app is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children. Because we do not collect personal information, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Your documents, certificates and any PDF passwords are handled on your own device under your Windows user account and are subject to your computer's security. Signing keys are used through the Windows certificate store and are not written to disk by the app in a form we retain. Temporary working files are cleared automatically on start and exit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and you are responsible for securing your own device, network, and backups.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features. When we do, we will change the effective date above and post the updated policy at this URL.
